I am 5'10" and most of my life have had long hair. The only time I had shorter hair, I had time to style it. I know have a 6 month old that loves to grab my hair when it is down and I am so sick of wearing it up all the time. My hair is pin straight, but I figure if I get it cut short and kind of choppy maybe I can just throw some product in it, mess it up and go. I have very thick hair and it takes forever to dry. I am thinking above the shoulders. Any suggestions would be great? I am attaching a not so great pic of me so that you can get an idea of my face shape. I am scared being that I am tall I'll look like a pin head.

Yikes. If that is a "not so great" picture, then you must kill when you are "great." "Mom hair" isn't what it used to be, and chunky fun is totally okay for moms. The other posts already on here are good, particularly the one with links, but I just wanted to add a note that how you will look is more a matter of how you feel than ... well, how you look. A smile like the one in the photo is going to make any hair you choose look great.

This is a big step, so I think your best option is to use hairstyles software to see what you will look like before you get it cut: http://www.hairfinder.com/hair_imaging.h...

You might look cute with a hairstyle like Natalie Teeger's from Monk. My mom got a hairstyle similar to it, and it's really low maintenance and cute.

I think if you go shoulder length it would look great. You could maybe part it to the side, throught in a little gel, and let it dry by itself. That is what I usually do.
Straight hair looks great when it is thick.
Good luck.

i agree sit down with a stylist if you can and I wouldn't trust this to supercuts or someplace like that ask your friends who they go to and trust with their hair if they're good they'll understand how big of a change this is for you. My personal opinion is that you would look good with one of those above the shoulder choppy shag do's as long as you don't get too much of a bang, you know, kinda part it on the side. Hope this helps

I am a Mom to I tried to grow my hair and my hair dresser layered for me and it is quick and easy to do. I still have enough to put up in a ponytail if I want too. You might want to ask your hair dresser or look in magazines for people who have the same face as you do!
