I have damaged hair from staightening and i need some really good ideas to make my hair healthy again. Ive been straightening for a long time now and i hate my hair. I thought it would be a good idea to cut my hair short and then grow it back out again but not straighten it but im not sure it would work. If you have any good ideas please help me out. thanks

How do you correct damaged hair?
I would go and get my ends trimmed regularly ...then I would do some at home deep conditioning. You can go to Sally's Beauty Supply and get a good "deep" conditioner you can either get it in packs or a jar of it ...i would recommend getting a jar ..and its not really expensive and get a pack of processing caps. Then I would wash my hair then apply a generous amount of conditioner and then put on a processing cap then take a thin damp towel and microwave it for 35-45 seconds and wrap it around your hair. I would leave this on for an hour or longer if you want just remember to keep reheating the towel. Then when you are done rinse really well and at the end of the rinse turn the water to cold and rinse really quick in just cold water. I would do this two or three times a week if time will allow it . Drink lots of water and try to eat healthy and remember to get your hair trimmed and try and let your hair air dry whenever you can and your hair will start to get healthy again. And when your ready you can still use your flat iron and things just remember to do a deep conditioning at least once a week even once your hair gets healthy.....
Hope this was helpful ~~
Good Luck ~~
EDIT ** I don't think Panteene is good for your hair ...I have heard lots of people say that. Garnier Fructis is suppose to have a good line of shampoo if you can't get a shampoo at a Salon. And as for the deep conditioner you could probably find one at Walmart but if you have a Sally's Beauty Supply near you I would go there and get one.
Here is a site you can read about Garnier Fructis and see if it sounds like it might be right for your hair ....

I'm sure trimming it will work. I had dry hair so we got a trim off the end and more grew back and it was healthier. also stop straightening your hair or find a straightner that doesn't damage your hair. Also eat healthy =P Use lots of conditioner too! I personally don't use straightners cause my hair is naturally straight but all my friends do and keep explaing to me about them.

How do you correct damaged hair?
hair gets damaged if you use the wrong shampoo and wash it too often like twice a day. Cut it short and start again.
How do you correct damaged hair?
If you blow dry your hair, then im postitive that is the main source of your hair issues. I stopped blow dying my hair a couple months ago and instead put a Straightline sterum in my hair when I get out of the shower without brushing it. It helps it dry quicker and protects it from heat damage.
Cutting your hair would also be beneficial to remove most of the breakage and help it grow out again.
Hope that helps =]
How do you correct damaged hair?
My hair used to be like that but not because I straightened but believe it or not I never used to use conditioner.
Now I know how to take care of my hair; I use shampoo AND conditioner, and when I straighten I use chi heat protector.
It's works great and it smells really nice.
Trim it every 2-3 months.
It'll look great in time.

Home Remedy for damaged hair growth care
[1] Mix 1/2 cup honey and 3 tablespoons olive oil. Work a small amount at a time through hair until coated. Cover hair with a shower cap; leave on 30 minutes. Shampoo well and rinse.
[2] 1/2 cup of ripe avocado, 1 tablespoon olive oil, 1/2 banana (I prefer it not to be too ripe), 1 egg yolk. Massage it in to your hair and especially your scalp. Cover it with a shower cap. You can also use a gallon size baggie in a pinch. Wait 45 minutes to an hour then rinse it off thoroughly and shampoo as usual. This beauty recipe is a keeper, I love the way it makes my hair look and feel.
[3] Beat 1 egg white until foamy. Add to 6 tablespoons plain natural yogurt. Apply to hair in small sections at a time. Leave in for 15 minutes. Rinse.
[4] 2 cups distilled water, 1/3 cup chopped fresh rosemary leaves - In small saucepan combine ingredients and bring to boil. Continue to boil 5 minutes. Let cool, then pour into spray bottle. Keep refrigerated and mist on hair to add shine, tone scalp, or invigorate skin.
[5] In a blender or food processor, combine 2 1/2 tablespoons dried milk, 1 tablespoon wheat germ oil, and 1 egg. Apply evenly to hair and let set for at least an hour. Shampoo and style as usual.
[6] Mix two whole eggs with four tablespoons of olive oil. Smooth through hair. Wrap head with plastic wrap, and leave in hair for 10 minutes. Rinse well.
[7] Boil 7 heaping tablespoons dried thyme in 2 cups water for 10 minutes. Strain and cool. Pour 1/2 mixture over clean, damp hair. Massage into scalp, do not rinse. Use the rest of the solution another day.
[8] If you swim in a chlorinated pool for exercise on a regular basis, the same damage you've noticed happening to your skin and bathing suit, is happening to your hair, as well. Try this treatment at home to keep chlorine damage to a minimum.

---------------
# Before getting into the shower, wet hair with cold water. Pretend you have shampoo in your hair, and massage water through hair. When finished, comb hair straight.
# Massage a cup of milk through hair; this will ensure softness and silkiness which is most important for pin-straight hair! Keep the milk in for 1.5 min and rinse out with lukewarm water.
# Once the milk is completely rinsed out, lightly shampoo hair. Leave shampoo in for one minute and then rise out with cold water. Then lightly condition hair. Also leave on for one minute and rinse out with lukewarm water.
# After completely rinsing out both shampoo and conditioner, towel off any extra water. Wrap hair in towel, and leave the towel in there for 5 min.
# Unwrap hair, and blow-dry it. make sure all of the hair is completely dry before proceeding.
# Part hair into an upper section and a lower section [half ponytail]. Clip upper section very high up.
# Set hair straightener to appropriate setting for your hair texture/thickness/manageability [that will be indicated on box] and wait until it has warmed up to the appropriate heat setting.
# Spray bottom half lightly with hair spray and massage the hair spray in lightly in a downward motion for a couple seconds.
# Thoroughly straighten bottom half, and when done add some more hairspray, and massage it in. Optional: add a little glossing spray.

How do you correct damaged hair?
first off i know how u feel!!! i had the same problem: this is what i am doing to restore my hair.
1. u need to get hair conditioners. they will help u get smoother hair.
2. u need to get treatments. buy the v5 treatments and buy the caps that cost like a dollar. that way ur treatment is not running down ur back!! lol trust me its nasty.
3. u need to stop strighting it with irons. it burns the natural oils! try using a blower. i know its hard. my hair has gotten soo much better that i can wash it and let it air dry and not worry about me looking a mess!!!
4. hun u need to cut. u need to cut just the ends. then as it goes growing it goes getting healither. u also need to continue cutting the ends. treat ur hair atleast 3 times a week. also dont wash it everyday.
products:
well i bought this treatment and its really good u have to go to a spanish supermarket or some place similar.
leche de cabra. leave it in while u shower. before u shampoo put the conditioner in and then bathe ur self. after u washed ur soap off take the treatment out.
2. olive products.
most walmart's carry them. if not walgreens has a treatment that is from olive oil. if u decide to use this one then prepare cuz it takes atleast 30 mins! it says to blow it but dont. it dosent hurt but ur hair is unhealthy and it wont work in ur favor.
3. change shampoos.
Pro v works. i use it.
4. use heat protectors.
if and when u need to strighten ur hair use products that protect ur hair from the heat in the iron.
well this is whats worked for me and i hope it works for u good luck. and remember that cutting ur hair dramatically will be too rough to deal with.
