I have had long hair for 5 years already. Now, I'm so bored of it, so I was thinking of getting it cut short. But I am so worried I'll look ugly in short hair. Friends told me, if my face is nice, i'll be nice in whatever hairstyle. If I'm ugly,I'll remain ugly in whatever hairstyle, so I should just go get a haircut and not worried so much.

I think great hair is all about confidence. Obviously there are some physical features to take into consideration - someone with a full face just isn't going to be flattered by a bob - but really? It's the whole package that makes you look good - a genuine smile, and the confidence that one gives off when he/she FEELS good.

Trust your friends, but above all, trust yourself.

If you're feeling queasy about lobbing off all your hair in one go, well as someone with hair down to the small of my back (which I absolutely ADORE and would never cut - even though sometimes I think, "But something short and simple and cool would be nice for the summer..."), I can assure you that there are a LOT of inbetween lengths. Don't feel like it's all or nothing. If you do go all the way and hate it, remember, it's just hair. It WILL grow back.

My hair stylist cut off 8 inches of my hair when I came in for a TRIM, 3 weeks before my high school prom. I was so mad I could have spit - I don't think it was his decision to make to cut off that much just because he reckoned, "No one needs anything that dead." Three years later, my hair has grown out, it's in great condition, and I love it.

Even if you DO end up hating your short hair, here's one good thing I can promise will come of it - any time you're tempted in the future (like I said I've been), you just have to force yourself to remember, "Hey, I had short hair, and I was miserable!" That one bad experience, traumatic as it was, has saved me from more haircuts that I'd regret in the last three years than ANYONE'S advice could have. Well, now I have my fiance and hair-envious little sister who would both murder me if I cut off my locks, so it's pretty much a no-brainer, haha!

It's getting warmer, go for the shorter, newer cut. Trust your friends. Look, I'm a man that likes longer hair as much as anyone.. but there's something incredibly attractive about a woman that knows how to manage shorter hair.. and actually, to think about -- it shows a girl is less lazy, in that shorter hair requires more maintainance for styling/cutting (long term) to keep it shorter. Accentuate your face, go ahead. I also ALWAYS thought that girls with shorter hair had more personality %26amp; in fact were more fun.

Yes... if your ugly then hairstyles may help you slightly... but it wont make you not ugly...youll just have nice hair.

do something different. wear it straight or make it curly, there is plenty you can do to change your look with out having to cut it. second who cares what your friends think it's what you think that matters

It doesnt realy matter, just got to figured out what type of close to go with the hairstyle and it will work out for you.

Hair and Shoes is the main ingredient when it comes to beauty and how you present your self. SO YES IT PLAYS A BIG ROLE. well dont try a look that you like and goes with your face.

actually, I'm in the same situation that you are! the hotter weather is not making it easy--but I've decided to keep my long hair. Many people cut their hair at this time of year, and my hair has been a part of me for so long I still want to feel like myself so i'm keeping it.

Actually I've seen my friend go through this. I used to think she was quite pretty and she had long hair.

She then cut her hair short and suddenly, all her feature flaws are exposed to the world to scrutinise. I found her very ugly after seeing her with short hair.

Some people are just not suitable to have short hair. Usually, people who look good with them are thin, have angled cheekbones and have outstanding features.

yes it does cuz ugly people are bald and rich people can afford the wigs that are ugly look at the apprentice guy u can tell thats a wig.

my hair is waist length and i'm thinking of getting it cut also.

since hairstyle is very important to a person's image and i want to get a certain look(i don't really care about the hairstyle) i will spend some money but go to a hairstylist who can tell me what would look good on me and what wouldn't. there are lots of hairstyles that look different acording to your face shape. something else you could do is change your colour since you are bored of your hair. you can go to a wig shop and try some on see how that hairstyle/colour would look on you. take a camera so you can look later at the pictures and decide.

well hair does influence your apperance alot but dont be scared change is good and scence youve had long hair for so long change could make your apperence look even better Ive seen it happen to many people

Short hair can look great on anyone, as long as the right hairstyle is chosen for the right face shape. So if you want to cut it short, go for it. But you say you've had it long for 5 years, so unless you trimmed it, it must be far down your back. If you go to get it cut, get it cut little by little. See if you like it with 3 inches off, or 6 inches off, or at your shoulder. If you still feel like getting a short cut after that, ask your hairstylist what type of hairstyle will look good on your face shape.

And don't forget to bring pictures of different haircuts you like, no matter the length! It'll give the hairstylist an idea of what type of look you like.

Hey don't think that way. I would say you are blessed to have lovely long hair. So enjoy the gifted item you have it in you. It is always fantastic and nice to see long ladies hair and even you yourself can experience it. If you are tired in grooming your hair don't go to extreme decision to cut the hair. Instead you can so many styles in long hair like you can make long pony tail, roll it in a bun, make a loose braid, you can even let lose your hair only problem in letting hair lose make have some tangle. But do not worry. Enjoy the long hair. There is no guarantee that your hair may grow to the existing level. So please twice 1000 times before going for short hair cut. What you can atmost do that you can get trim for about 1 inch or so. This is my humble suggession.
